Therapist

A therapist is a professional person who offers therapy. A therapist makes changes for the better in the lives of people who require their services. A therapist offers solutions to the people in need by making them realize their true potential and maximizing their self esteem by eradicating their negative thoughts or fear of failure. There are different kinds of occupational therapists; there are therapists who indulge in disability therapy, therapists who indulge in rehabilitation therapy, mental health therapy and so on.

A therapist, to practice his vocation should ideally have at least a master’s degree in any field of study concerning therapy or psychology. A licensed therapist like an LCSW will have better access to job opportunities in government sectors as many states require a license for therapists and also if they want to practice privately in certain fields that require a license. A therapist should be basically sensitive to people’s problems, as therapy requires an understanding of the true reasons behind the problems of individuals.  Communication also plays a pivotal role in the efficiency of therapy given by the therapist, as a therapist will be doing his job basically conversing and giving solutions by communicating to the patient. As this job is a one on one personal relationship between the patient and the patient, mutual respect and confidence in one another is a must for any therapy program to succeed.
